The Amusing Fried-Chicken Civilization

In the America Today an American reporter said from Damascus: "I see some changes in the country, for example, I have seen a Kentucky Fried Chicken  advertisement. And it is just the beginning" and she said that with such joy.

I wonder what was the good news that made her rejoice...

It is just the beginning of what?

It can't be: "it is just the beginning of suffering from all kind of diseases that this unhealthy artificial food brings", because that means she is such an ill soul who rejoices in other's misfortune. But it can't be, since she is a civilized educated lady, can it?

It can't be: "it is just the beginning of becoming shallow like the Western society", because we are as shallow as they are, but with different flavours. We could even export to them some of our shallow stuff as they have exported to us theirs? So it can't be that, since shallowness is not something to be delighted in or proud of, can it?

Could it be: "it is just the beginning of becoming civilized like western people"?

mmmm.... then I think I've got what it is meant. It is meant that the very essence of the western civilization lies in the fried chicken, and we are on the right way of becoming completely civilized fried-chicken people like westerners...

Well, that is really an amusing news, which, surly, brings the joy.
